Chris’s reflection:
The project was fascinating, particularly with applications in the treatment of cancers. I gained an insight into the amount of work which goes into such complex simulations, and how amazing it is to be able to see structures so clearly, usually invisible to the human eye.
The main difficulties I encountered were learning the programming language and interpreting the scattering images to discover which mechanism was at play.
The communication I had with Marco and Javier was invaluable; they both have a very deep understanding of the code we used and answered all my questions. Throughout the project they were on hand to assist me whenever necessary, giving me enough information to help, but also challenging me.
By the end of the project the skills I developed helped me achieve my goal of increasing proficiency in conducting research and interpreting data, to assist the steps I wish to take following my degree – potentially in research.
