Development Pathways

The landscape and practice of those who teach in Higher Education has been transformed by the Covid pandemic and the subsequent impact on global ways of working. Teachers now need to be able to move seamlessly between physical and online teaching environments, digitally confident and capable, and able to apply pedagogical principles to new and changing contexts.

As part of Lincoln’s institutional commitment to the development of staff and the drive for excellence in teaching and the student experience, new academic staff at Lincoln can enrol on an Academic Professional Apprenticeship (APA) taking individuals from entry point through to full professional competence, or PgCert HE tailored and designed to meet the current needs of the HE sector.

Beyond these development programmes, all staff who teach at Lincoln are encouraged to achieve formal recognition of their practice through Advance HE’s fellowship recognition scheme. Since 2019 Lincoln has administered its own internal Programme to facilitate awarding of fellowship status for Associate Fellowship, Fellowship and Senior Fellowship, where applications for Principal Fellow are supported but remain with Advance HE and external to this programme.

Full details of all development pathways are set out below.
