#Digied18 : Events for academics – by academics

Following the success of the LALT Showcase: Education in a Digital Age event, the Digital Education team have started a new series of short themed events called ‘#DigiEd’. These presentations highlight examples of good practice that are happening across the University, throughout a wide range of courses, to help support and enhance teaching and learning across the University of Lincoln.

Academics: Daniel Wakefield & Sean Morton

Topic:  Makerspace – Video-based learning

Date: 20th June 2018

Our makerspace sessions give academics a chance to hear how a technology is being used and then try the technology for themselves. They can then take this skill away from the session to try and embed these skills in their teaching.

Panopto

This session focused on using Panopto for reflection, explanation and collaboration. Three case studies were taken from our digital recipes to help showcase and inspire new ways of using the panopto system. These recipes were written by Gillian Fowler, Ann Draycott, Keivan Ahmadi & Tamin Chalati. (click their names to be linked directly to their recipes)

360 Degree Video/ Virtual Reality

Sean focused on using 360 degree camera technology to engage his students through virtual reality. This was achieved through placing a student in the position of a patient in hospital. This was designed to help them feel empathy and explore the daily routine of a patient.
