Student as Producer NEW

This resource provides an overview of the Student as Producer (SaP) model. The origins of the model come from the work of Professor Mike Neary in 2010 and its legacy lives on in this current form. The guide provides some contextual background to the model and framework, exploring some of the key values and principles, and outlining how these fit with Students as Partners and Student engagement.

Student as Producer 2.0 (SaP 2.0) is an evolved version of the original model, which has been developed as part of University of Lincoln’s Teaching, Learning, and Student Experience Strategy (TLSE). SaP 2.0 represents the institutional commitment to further embed partnerships and co-creation into learning experiences, whereby students and staff are empowered and supported through a range of collaborative opportunities.

By valuing the role and place of students to be active learners, rather than passive recipients in their learning, SaP 2.0 enables them to have greater ownership over their own learning journeys. The new model (2023- 2027) develops opportunities for student engagement and participation, both within and outside of the curriculum. It is focused upon adding a greater sense of belonging in the community at the University of Lincoln.

This resource also includes a guide for applying and interpreting SaP 2.0. It is a model framed in critical pedagogy, with the potential to be transformative for students and staff. It provides a definition, frameworks of relevant models and examples of good practice as case studies.

SaP 2.0 serves as a vehicle for partnership, encouraging and supporting collaborative projects between staff and students. These can be shown in all aspects of the student experience, teaching and research, involving students in decision making, processes and opportunities to engage outside of their curriculum. Â
