Blackboard Upgrade 2018

Blackboard will be upgraded week commencing 9th July 2018. Throughout the upgrade there will be a read-only version of Blackboard available from 7 July 2018. Staff and students will be able to access Blackboard in the usual way, however any changes made to sites or content on the read-only version will not be retained when the upgraded version of Blackboard is made available. The upgrade will be completed within the working week and will become available following successful internal testing.

Benefits of Blackboard Upgrade:

The upgrade to Blackboard will introduce some new features for staff and students, including
An enhanced responsive design for mobile and tablet devices, featuring fully responsive menus within module sites and main Blackboard tabs, responsive blogs and discussion boards.
Improvements to assessments and submissions made by Blackboard, including the introduction of receipts for Blackboard submissions, an enhanced submission process and the autosaving of Blackboard rubrics.
The ability to upload multiple files via drag and drop in a broader range of locations across Blackboard.
 An easier way to make sites available to students and to see which sites are currently available via a toggle button located next to the Student Preview button.
❱ The ability to make Blackboard Collaborate sessions available to select students within a module site rather than just a whole cohort.

Project update –

Working group with Digital Education and ICT will meet fortnightly. Blackboard will be upgraded week commencing 9th July 2018. Communication to be sent to all staff.

All staff email has been circulated. Development environment in place for any changes to be tested by the Digital Education Developers.
