Lincoln student reaches competition final for Microsoft Office Skills

A University of Lincoln student is competing in the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) competition UK/IE Finals this week.

As part of the University’s Microsoft Office Specialist Programme, run in conjunction with The Lincoln Award, James Hallam-Allsop (a final year Accountancy student) achieved an exceptionally high score on his Microsoft Excel exam.  As a result, he has been invited to compete in the national championships, where he will sit another competency based Excel exam online in competition with 30 finalists around the country. The top prize in this competion being the trip of a lifetime to represent the UK & Ireland at the MOS World Championships in the USA in August 2021.

Reaching the finals in this competition is an incredible achievement. This can be added, alongside the Microsoft Office Specialist digital badge and the Lincoln Award, as evidence of technical competency in using Microsoft Office and shows commitment to extra-curricular professional development.  James, who is pursuing a career in accountancy, is excited about competing and says that Microsoft Certification is useful for careers in accountancy and that it has improved his skills and future employability.
