In May 2018, a group of 1st Year Dance students were given the opportunity to shadow 3rd Year students preparing for their final show. Olivia, Bethany & Rebecca (1st Year, Dance BA) met with third years on several occasions: A few weeks prior to the final show, a few days before and finally on the night itself.
Through this process, the three students were provided with first-hand experience of the process of putting together a final performance, gaining insight into technical considerations, costume & technique, while also witnessing the pressures and workload of a large-scale production.
This peer-to-peer learning exercise resulted in all three students changing their mindset towards final shows – by offering them a glimpse of the process, they’re able to work towards this end-goal throughout their degree.
