Microsoft Office Specialist Exams (Pilot)

This 15 month pilot project is trialling offering Microsoft Office exams to students.  The project aims to give approximately 250 students the opportunity to gain an internationally recognised certificate of digital skills in areas of Microsoft Office.

Project update

  • September 2020
    The pilot period has now finished and reports and recommendations are being considered.
  • July 2020
    Additional online exam dates have been secured for the end of August 2020.
  • May 2020
    Exams will be conducted online and dates have been booked for end of July, with dates promoted to students through the Lincoln Award.
  • April 2020
    Due to lockdown, Microsoft Office Specialist Exams are currently on hold. It may be possible to offer these remotely and the project team are currently liaising with the exam providers regarding this.
  • February 2020
    Exams were sat on the 29th January with the next scheduled exam date due to take place on Wednesday 11th March 2020 (pm). Students enrolled on The Lincoln Award can choose to sign up for a £10 registration fee per course (currently a 90% discount of the standard price), further details can be found at
  • December 2019
    78% of target enrolments has been achieved with over 90 students signed up to the pilot.
  • October 2019
    Programme launched in alignment with the Lincoln Award. 72 students enrolled so far - Target is 125 students for the first exam, which is set for Jan 29th. Second exam date to be released once enrolments reach 100 students.
