Textwall and TitanPad: technological tools with pedagogic value part 2

In March 2017, I delivered a seminar to a group of thirteen first year Fine Art students at Lincoln whose specific intended learning outcomes related to students being able to understand and describe key concepts relating to humour within the field of contemporary art practice; discuss effective communication skills using e-technology; and develop effective argumentative skills. I trialled using TitanPad for the first time in my teaching, as a development of my existing usage of Textwall (which I previously effectively used with the same group of students in a previous seminar).

My teaching philosophy emphasises experiential learning: 1) the usage of collaborative learning processes and co-learning and 2) reproducing real life in the classroom by incorporating realia (objects from real life used to improve students’ understanding of real life situations). Teaching activities are not displaced from the students’ own life experiences; there is often heavy student engagement in digital technologies.

360 video pilot recording a Health and Social Care clinical scenario

The 360 camera is a new technology that we hadn’t really used before and we were interested to see what it gave our learners that a traditional video camera doesn’t. We worked closely with the digital developer team to pilot the use of a 360 camera whilst recording a straightforward clinical scenario.
